East Hartford’s
Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Mark Zito, Takes the
Lead in Providing Transparency in Education!
The Federation extends our deepest appreciation to Dr. Zito, and the entire East Hartford Board of Education to
include Board Chair Mary Alice Dwyer Hughes, Secretary Jeffrey A. Currey, and members Christopher M. Gentile, Bryan R.
Hall, Tyron V. Harris, Julie
Kieras, Anita Morrison, Marcus C. Oladell, IV, and Dorese
Roberts. Their leadership in this regard
is exemplary. It is the Federation’s
hope that other towns will provide similar information for the benefit of
parents and taxpayers in their towns.

Re: Request for Governmental Transparency
Dear Mrs. Kniep,
Once again, I thank you for contacting me regarding the
request to promote governmental transparency. I am pleased to inform you that
the wage information for all East Hartford
school district employees and the 2010-11 checkbook of
expenses are now posted on our website. In order to access this information,
please go to the "district" link on the main page and then click on
"departments." Next, please click on "business services"
and locate the link to "education plan and budgets." All of the
employee wage information, and the checkbook of expenses, are accessible
through this link. Under this link, you will find "Budgeted Wages FY
2011-12," "Fiscal Accounts Payable 2010-11," and "Fiscal
Payroll 2010-11." In addition, there is a link to the October 18, 2011
letter that I sent to all staff outlining the intention of the school district
to comply with the request from your organization.
